Hello world!

If I could tell every couple one thing, it’s that the photos you’ll love the most aren’t the perfect poses, they’re the real, candid moments you didn’t even realize were happening.

Recently, I had a conversation with a wedding planner friend of mine. He works these MASSIVE luxurious weddings (think extravagant, immersive, editorial-type weddings). He told me his couple tend to book photographers looking for those grand, magazine-worthy photos. When discussing this photography style, he said something that made me do a double take: He said those couples 9/10 times come back years later saying their biggest regret was not asking for candid shots.

And I’ll be honest… I’ve seen it firsthand. I’ve had so many couples come back to me after they’ve lost someone, just to say, “I’m so glad you caught that moment with them.” I’ve even lived it myself, one of my favorite photos from my brother’s wedding is my grandmother in her wheelchair, getting pulled and spun onto the dance floor with the biggest smile on her face. It wasn’t staged, it wasn’t planned. But it’s one I’d never trade.

Trends are fun, but in the long run? 10, 15 years down the line? You’re going to want the hugs, the laughs, the quiet moments with your people.
At the end of the day, you should experience your wedding, not just perform it. Let’s make space for the photos that’ll mean the most, years from now.
